MilKit products offer the simplest solution for tubeless installation and maintenance. We designed our rim tape to be very strong and reliable for an airtight fit, but with enough flex to make installation quick and easy.

Choose a rim tape width that matches the inner width of your rim or is slightly larger. The rim tape should cover the whole rim base and it can even cover a part of both sides. Using too narrow rim tape can lead to air leaking between rim and tape - which can be frustrating. If it is too wide it can interfere with the tire seating correctly.

For easy and effective installation:
1.Clean rim thoroughly and ensure it is dry
2.Install rim tape by pulling it firmly into the rim. It must be tight and ensure there are no gaps or air trapped underneath.
3.Make sure it overlaps at least 10 cm / 4 in over the valve hole, it's better to have a longer overlap than shorter
4.Use two layers for high pressure wheels (above 8 bar / 120 psi)
5.Cut rim tape at a 45° angle for the best adhesion and flexibility
6.Install milKit tubeless valves into rim: pinch just a small hole into the rim tape and push valve through tape into rim


About Milkit

The milKit system was devised in Switzerland after a mountain bike ride in Moab, USA was cut short due to a flat tire and dried-out sealant. A simple puncture that would easily have sealed, had the sealant still been effective. This is a problem that anyone used to riding tubeless will understand.

The founder, product development engineer and mountain biker Pius Kobler decided to solve this problem and invented milKit. Together with a team of biking enthusiasts and experienced entrepreneurs Pius founded the company Sport Components Ltd. Their aim is to ease the everyday lives of mountain bikers, cyclists and other athletes with innovative products, and to become a leading provider of smart bicycle solutions.

Not content to rest on their laurels, the next product, the milKit Booster for more efficient tire inflation, won a Eurobike Award in September 2019. In 2020 milKit was crowned the Test Winner in sealants by Mountain Bike Magazine.
